Elise Archer is the Liberal Member for Denison in the Tasmanian Parliament, House of Assembly.

Ministerial Responsibilities:

On 2 October 2017, Elise Archer joined the Cabinet as Minister for Justice, MInister for Corrections, Minister for Environment & Parks and Minister for the Arts. 

Speaker of the House of Assembly from May 2014 to October 2017:

Elise Archer was the Speaker of the House of Assembly, from 6 May 2014 to 2 October 2017.

As the Speaker, Elise Chaired the Standing Orders Standing Committee, Privileges Standing Committee, House Joint Sessional Committee, Library Joint Sessional Committee, and the Printing Select Committee.

Shadow Ministerial responsibilities from 2010 to March 2014:

Elise Archer was the Shadow Minister for Police & Emergency Management, Planning, Community Development (covering women, child/youth affairs, seniors, multiculturalism/migrants/refugees) and Aboriginal Affairs, and the Lower House spokesperson for Corrections.

She was the Opposition Whip .

Parliamentary Standing Committees 2010 to March 2014:

Elise was a member of the Joint Standing Committee for Subordinate Legislation (which reviews delegated legislation ie. examining the provisions of every regulation or by-law) and the House of Assembly Privileges Committee (which considers matters referred to it by the House relating to alleged breaches of privileges by Members or others).

Parliamentary Select Committee(s) 2010 to March 2014:

Elise was a member of the Select Committee on the Cost of Housing, Building & Construction in Tasmania.
